Quarterly Book Review: Jul-Sept

Quarterly Book Review: Jul-Sept

Back for part three of my quarterly book reviews! I have been having so much fun doing these and can’t believe that after this one, there’s only one more left for the year 😱 it’s wild to me how fast the year is flying by. Buy anywho, this has been a great way to keep me motivated on my reading! I believe reading is SO important to keep your brain turning, and constantly growing and learning.

July through September was honestly slow for me in terms of reading— I know I say that every time, but for real this time, LOL. Below are the few books I’ve read.

  1. I honestly don’t recommend this book and didn’t want to include it, but I have to be authentic and let y’all know when a book doesn’t register with me, right? Since I’m in the business of real estate, I read Raving Fans, which supposedly shared a ‘revolutionary approach to customer service’, which in reality was all simple common sense. Lol. It’s a quick read but still not worth your time.

  2. The Kiss Quotient was SOOOO cute, you guys! And honestly a little raunchy, which I did not realize beforehand 🤣 It’s about an autistic woman who hires an escort to break down her barriers and fear of being in a relationship/getting intimate. Very well written.

  3. After I saw Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, I was super intrigued by the life and murder of Sharon Tate. I stumbled across Restless Souls and thought I would give it a shot! Overall, it was pretty good— it mostly focused on life after Sharon’s death and her mother’s efforts to bring awareness to victims rights, not so much on the murder and investigation. Apparently Helter Skelter is a better book on that side of things; I’ll have to look into it.

  4. Can barely even count this since I’m honestly not that far into The Great Believers, so it’s hard for me to really touch on if it’s worth a read or not. BUT I’ll give you a quick synopses. It switches back and forth from the 80’s to thirty years later, on how the AIDS epidemic affected one family.

Also side note, I started reading The Daily Stoic in August, and it’s a great daily devotional if you aren’t very religious! It’s more so just daily wisdom.

What’s next? Any good recommendations?!

xo, Mackenzie
