On the Record: Vinyl — Modishly Mackenzie

Is vinyl the new leather? I don't know if anything could ever replace my love for leather jackets, but I am 100% on board with the vinyl trend.

Vinyl, sometimes referred to as PVC, is fun because it can go further than just jackets. Vinyl trousers, dresses and trench coats are all making appearances in street style everywhere—I even wore a vinyl mini skirt for my birthday last May. The slick material with a glossy, high shine finish screams 90's, which I don't know about you, but I'm all for any 90's revival.

This outfit was totally inspired by Kourtney Kardashian's Tokyo look, with my own twist.

Most vinyl pieces are so fitted they look like liquid, almost like a second skin, so beware that they are not the easiest to get on. Besides that, my overall experience with vinyl was a win. It's comfortable once on, and serves the best edgy vibe. Pair your look with contrasting pieces, like knits, fur, mesh or sneakers. While vinyl may seem risqué, it's a trend you should absolutely try at least once!
